Off-road MotorcyclesWelcome to Off-road Motorcycles and Dirt Bikes! The next few pages contain pictures and reviews of bikes that I have owned and places that I have ridden. As I have first hand knowledge of most of these I`ve written a little mini-review besides each picture. The first lot are those I have owned, the second lot are other peoples, mostly Lee's - it's his digital camera that's taken all the pictures :-) I have ridden bikes through all kinds of terrain and luckily my local area has a vast variety of differing terrain within a relatively small area. Hopefuly these pictures will be of interest to other trail bikers or perhaps even convince the unenlightened to take up this extremely interesting hobby. This page also containa an archive of all the information I have been able to gather and some useful links. I am thinking of adding a `getting started` guide of some kind to this site - email me if you have any comments on this. Some of the bikes we have owned were before there was a digital camera to record them, so unfortunately the pictures of these bikes are similar models but not the exact bike. The areas are nearly all local. I live in South Wales, U.K, and although it is a small part of the world there are a lot of riding places. Most of it is private land, foresty land, or national park - all no-go areas. There has been a big crackdown on off-road riding in South Wales. The local police even have a dedicated off-road team riding XR400's that will stop and caution riders, and even seize bikes if repeatedly stopped. The publics perception off bike riders is sadly a very negative one. Most off-roaders are considerate of other countryside users, but most other countryside users want to keep it to themselves. For the latest news on this area visit the South Wales Evening Post website and search for "offroad". You can also try the Port Talbot Guardian and the South Wales Police. A quick look at the headlines will soon show you local opinion. There are places you can still legally ride, namely certain classes of untarred roads, bridleways and the like. Visit the Trail Riders Fellowship (link in "links") for more information. Even this is under threat. If you want to talk with others about Offroad Riding, about Enduros or Trail Riding but are fed up with emphasis on Motocross in other sites then please go to my Yahoo! Club "Enduro and Offroad Dirt Bikes". From time to time I will also post pictures and other stuff there that you won't find here - and it also provides an ideal place to your put your own!
